TRAVERSE TREK IN THE MGOUN MOUNTAINS AND ROSE VALLEY

9 Days / 8 Night

7 days of trekking with a day either side to arrive and return to Marrakech, making 9 days of adventure in some spectacular parts of Morocco. Choose your time of arrival to coincide with the harvest of the Damascus Roses that are grown in the valley and you have an added bonus to your trek.

Jbel Mgoun is the second highest peak in Morocco and is surrounded by a vast playground of peaks, valleys, gorges and villages with diverse landscapes. You will be camping wild and staying with nomad and local families. This is a traverse trek which you can combine with a trek or trip in the Sahara or High Atlas.

This trek can be done in winter, it will present challenges, therefore an element of flexibility must be included. Certain parts may not be passable by the mule-team, also floods may occur requiring a change of route. Our team is well equipped to deal with these situations should they occur. A spring or early summer trek will be surrounded with aromatic flora and blossoms, fruit trees and verdant valleys. Whatever time you choose will offer exceptional views and memorable experiences.

Day 1Marrakech - Agouti

In the morning we drive from Marrakech to Agouti. There is time to relax at the guesthouse in Agouti when we arrive in the late afternoon.

From the top, there are impressive views across the Draa Valley and towards the Sahara Desert to the south. We descend back to Azib Izabine where the team will have set up camp and a welcome tea will be prepared before dinner. 8-9 hours trekking.
